It was a different India Vs Australia series as the odds were in favor of India, Australians did not have the luxury of their two most successful batsman Steve Smith and David Warner. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the India Vs Australia series as it always promises to be exciting and a few banters here and there and is an absolute treat to watch.
It was the beginning of another India Vs Australia series. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat at the Adelaide. It was the same old story for the Indian batsman as everyone was getting out by poking outside off or by playing a rash shot.
Only exception in the Indian batting line up was Pujara. He was rock solid at the crease and batted beautifully and got rewarded with his well-deserved century. Virat was a bit unlucky as Khawaja took an absolute blinder to raise curtains for him.
The day ended with an excellent fielding effort from Cummins who dismissed Pujara with his throw. The day was completely in favor of Australia as India ended the day with 250/9.
It took only one ball for the Australian team to clean up India on the second day. So, India was all out from just 251 runs and the Australians would be happy.
India started amazingly as Finch was dismissed by Ishant Sharma on just the 3rd ball of the innings. There was a nice partnership between Harris and Khawaja before Ashwin came and got rid of Harris. Ashwin took three quick wickets. It brought back some confidence to the Indian side. There was a good partnership between Cummins and Head of 50 runs before he got out to Bumrah.
At the end of the days play, Australia was batting at 191/7. The match was evenly poised at the end of the days play.
It was a frustrating third day play in the first half because of the rain. India Bundled out Australia for 235 and got a lead of 15 runs. India got a good start of 63 before Rahul also didn’t sustain long after the dismissal of Vijay and got at the score of 44. Then, Kohli and Pujara had a nice partnership of 71 runs ensuring that there was not another collapse.
India ended the days play at 151/3 and a lead of 166 runs. Towards the end of the days play there were few words exchanged by Cummins and Pujara. A banter free India Vs Australia series is just not possible. India had a firm lead and would expect to consolidate on it. At the end of the days play the match got slightly tilted in favor of India.
